Kellenberger-White is in the second year of collaborating with The Fitzwilliam Museum on realising its strategy to become a more accessible, relevant and diverse museum.
Founded in 1816 at the University of Cambridge, The Fitzwilliam boasts one of the largest collections in Western Europe of fine art and artefacts from antiquity to the present day. Recent exhibitions focus on sport and the avant-garde and sex, power and gender in Renaissance depictions of classical mythology.
To date we have designed and art-directed marketing campaigns for a number of temporary exhibitions and for the rehang of the permanent collection. We have done this with new photography, custom lettering and by experimenting with the relationship between image and text. We are also working on an extensive printed gallery guide.
The long-term nature of this collaboration allows us to test the success of our designs with visitors, as we develop a rigorous but plural approach to an institutional identity.
